Eloping Wedding

The process of an eloping wedding basically consists of the bride and groom getting married on their own without the traditional church wedding and reception. There are no friends and family invited and sometimes couples travel to various destinations such as Las Vegas or Niagara Falls to get hitched. In the old days many young couples who were forbidden to marry chose to elope. Before that the word elope was used to describe a married woman who ran away with her secret lover. While eloping can be a secret, it doesn't have to be these days.


You may decide to tell your friends and family of your decision to elope. There are definitely practical reasons to do so. Eloping is far less expensive than a traditional wedding and takes a lot less time to plan. Some couples in a hurry to wed choose to elope, then have a traditional ceremony later on. You may elope, then come home and throw a big reception party or dinner for friends and family. Or, you can do it the old fashioned way and run off without telling anyone of your plans.

One big decision to make is where to tie the knot. As mentioned before Las Vegas is a great place to elope. There are chapels galore including the Little White Chapel which actually has a drive through window. If you are short on money and in a hurry, this is an ideal way to go. For a more sophisticated and romantic wedding check with some of the luxurious casino resorts. For example at the Venetian you can get married on a gondola, on a bridge or in the chapel overlooking gorgeous gardens.

Las Vegas isn't the only place for an eloping wedding. You can go straight to any Justice of the Peace and get married for less than $100 with the proper licenses. It's the fastest and easiest way to make your relationship legal and binding. If you need help planning your elopement, there are some books that help educate you.
