Eloping Rules

Anyone planning to elope should know there are eloping rules that are important to know about. They are not so much rules as they are guidelines to help your wedding go smoothly. Of course, there are legal requirements that vary from state to state when it comes to things like fees and marriage licenses. You will need to follow all local regulations of your area when eloping just as you would with a traditional wedding. However the other rules related to this type of wedding are more etiquette than anything else and take into consideration your family and friends.


For example, if you are close to your parents they may be devastated if you run off and get married without telling them. Therefore you may want to call them first and let them know of your plans. Some couples actually take their parents along with them to witness their special day while others do not. If your parents do not approve of the union then you may not want to contact them, it is a decision that is yours to make. You might also want to tell your closest friends of your plans and explain to them why you are choosing to elope.

One way to soothe wounded feelings is by throwing a big reception or having a party to celebrate the nuptials after you return home as a married couple. Although you may spend a bit of money on the reception or party you will certainly be saving money on the cost of the wedding. When planning one of these reception parties you might want to keep the guest list down to your closest friends and family members rather than inviting everyone you know.

On the subject of eloping rules you should know that choosing to elope is a big decision that will change your life. After the ceremony, you will be part of a married couple. Therefore it is very important to consider the decision to elope carefully and at length. You certainly don't want to jump into a marriage on the spur of the moment that might be a mistake. Both you and your fiancee should agree that eloping is the best way to wed and be prepared for life as a married couple.
